How We Make Jackets At The Jackets City

Our process follows six simple steps, the same ones we’ve trusted for years, to make sure every jacket you buy lasts you a lifetime.

1. Design

Our skilled designers create the patterns that every jacket is built from. Once a design is ready, computers adjust it into different sizes using standard body measurement charts based on height and weight. This gives us a full size range from one original design.

2. Cutting

The tanned leather is laid out on special cutting tables. Even though machines can cut several layers at once, our team prefers to cut one layer at a time for better accuracy. The approved pattern is placed on top of the leather, either pinned on with tissue paper or traced using tailor’s chalk. From there, our workers carefully cut each piece by hand, making sure nothing damages the leather. The inner lining is cut using the same careful method.

3. Assembly of the jackets

Our skilled tailors stitch every jacket together with care, matching up the design at every step. The side panels are joined to the back, the underarm seams are stitched, and the sleeves are attached to the armholes. Details like collars, cuffs, buttonholes, buttons, zippers, and pockets are added based on the jacket’s design. Pockets are sewn on before the panels are joined together, and the lining is usually stitched onto each piece before final assembly.

4. Molding and Pressing

To turn raw leather into a finished, wearable jacket, we use heat, steam, and shaping techniques. Special pressing machines control the steam and pressure to give jackets like bombers and blazers their signature shape. Curved molds are also used on the collars and cuffs after heating, so they stay soft and comfortable instead of becoming stiff. Even after the molds are removed, the collars and cuffs keep their curved shape.

5. Final Inspection

Before any jacket leaves our workshop, our quality team inspects it closely. They check every part of the jacket for flaws or design issues. Once a jacket passes inspection, it’s approved and sent out to be sold.
